Presenting to the Application Framework Core team at Microsoft

If you’ve been reading my blog you will have noticed that about 6 weeks I go I started playing around with the Managed Extensibility Framework (MEF) and a couple of weeks later I started mentioning that I was developing a custom programming model for it.

Yesterday I was given the opportunity to present my work and share my experience, with build a custom model for MEF, for parts of the Application Framework Core team at Microsoft. Glenn Block set up a Windows Live Meeting session and sent out the invites, and I ended up presentig to a team which included Brad Abrams and Krzysztof Cwalina

I have to admit I was a bit nervous when we first started, I mean there are only some of the people that control the overall architecture and guidelines for the .NET Framework itself. But the feeling of being nervous was dissolved after the first 2 minutes of being in the meeting. These guys really made me feel welcome and have an extremely casual and laidback attitude – so here’s a big thanks to them all for making me feel so welcome.

The presentation went well and I think they liked what they were seeing. The whole thing, including Q&A, ran for an hour and I could probably have kept on going for another two! An hour sure passes at lightning speed when you are going at it.

So this marks an important (to me at least) event. I’m now prepared to start writing the blog series on MEF and how to author a custom model for it. It’s going to take some time, it’s not a small task, but it’s coming, along with the full source code of my model.

In the meantime I’m more than willing to try and answer any questions you may have about model authoring for MEF, just drop me a line if you have any questions.

Oh and if you haven’t already checked out MEF, you really should pay their codeplex page a visit and download the latest bits.
